A former Greenwood police officer has been charged with raping a woman he was dispatched to help.
Walter Hawkins, 30, 28 West Brook St., Glendora, was arrested Monday after being indicted last week by a Leflore County grand jury.
He was released later in the day on a $50,000 bond.
