State Rep. May Whittington was a healer - at least in the spiritual sense.
Whittington understood what it meant to have an obligation to serve others. She made a life's work of it and did it well, said the Rev. Craig Gates, who eulogized his friend and onetime parishioner Saturday.
She also was a scrapper, he recalled.
