Tuesday will mark the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. On April 12, 1861, Confederate forces in Charleston, S.C., opened fire on Fort Sumter in the city’s harbor.
Soon after, 11 Southern states seceded from the United States to form the Confederacy.
