Chassaniol knows foe only by reputation

State Sen. Lydia Chassaniol, R-Winona, said Thursday that she has never met the man she’s running against for the District 14 seat, but she knows him by reputation.

Chassaniol, 60, who is seeking her second term in the Mississippi Senate, will face Democratic nominee Carlos Moore in the Nov. 8 general election.

This is the time of year when my daughters go back to college — and a chunk of my money goes with them. I know that many of you are going through the same thing.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
