Abraham: No schedule for hospital sale decision

There is no timetable for a decision on whether to sell Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Leflore County Chancery Clerk Sam Abraham says.

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors and the Greenwood City Council are only seeking information on a possible sale of the hospital, Abraham told the Kiwanis Club Thursday.

Experience mixed with traffic cops

Recently, there have been several comments in “My Two Cents” about the Greenwood police.

Several complained that police officers were rude and unprofessional to them during traffic stops. One said she was pulled over for speeding, and four police cruisers came to the scene.

The Olympics aren’t what they used to be

The Games of the 30th Olympiad will wheeze to a halt on Sunday. And not a minute too soon.

I have watched less of the 2012 Summer Games in London than any Olympics since 1968. I don’t think we got to see the 1968 Summer Games in Jackson because ABC broadcast them that year and Jackson didn’t have an ABC affiliate yet.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
