Board OKs hospital’s purchase of clinics

Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s purchase of two clinics was approved by the Leflore County Board of Supervisors on Monday.

The board gave the hospital permission to purchase the Kosko Eye Clinic, 1503 Strong Ave., and the Greenwood Urology Clinic, Eighth St.

CAngina Brown, left and Kevin Haymore were first in line at the AT&T store in Greenwood. They were among Apple fans around the world who lined up today to be the first to get their hands on the new iPhone. Haymore said he arrived at the Park Avenue store at 5 a.m., three hours before it opened.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
