JACKSON - Jobless rates can indicate how an area's economy is faring, but they can also be misleading.
Looking just at unemployment, it appears that the Jackson metropolitan area - which includes Madison, Hinds and Rankin counties - had fared the worst. Its jobless rate rose in June over the year before.
