Medical staff lounge to be dedicated to Boler

Greenwood Leflore Hospital plans to dedicate its medical staff lounge to the late Dr. Michael T. Boler Sr.
On Tuesday, the hospital board approved a recommendation made by the medical staff to honor in this way the physician, who died in August from leukemia at age 69.

Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board: Supervisors to seek injunction on Banks

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors is following through on its threat to sue to get Marcus Banks off the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board.
On Monday, the Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to seek a court injunction that would bar Banks from continuing to serve as a voting member of the hospital board.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
