Consultants warn of deferred investment

Utility's president-CEO will retire

Tony Sinclair, the president and CEO of Greenwood Utilities, is retiring.

Sinclair, 64, has notified the Board of Commissioners for the city-owned utility that he will be calling it quits and relocating to the Gulf Coast of Alabama by Dec. 31, although his departure could be sooner, depending on how quickly a successor is hired.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
