Milwaukee Tool has temporarily shut down its entire Greenwood operation, reportedly due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On Wednesday, the company told its roughly 1,000 employees that production at its three facilities in the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park would be suspended until April 20.

The death count from COVID-19 in Leflore County is up to four, making it one of the highest in the state.

The latest death, though, apparently was of a Leflore County resident who died outside the county.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
