Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office has the same response most anytime you call it about a civil or criminal matter that has been turned over to her agents.
No comment.
It’s almost not worth the time to ask. Doesn’t matter how long it has had a case, Fitch’s office rarely provides an update to the public.

CMS: Nurse violated emergency room law

On a Thursday evening in late May, a mother rushed into the emergency room at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, cradling her 7-year-old daughter in her arms.
The child, who had suffered a severe asthma attack and seizure at her home, was limp, clothed only in a bath towel.

Ex-College Board member speaks

Most Mississippi universities have already been experiencing an enrollment slide, which is projected to only worsen over the next decade or longer with the decline in the number of college-age adults.
The situation has revived discussion about closing or merging some of the eight schools.

Hospital cut losses again in July

Greenwood Leflore Hospital cut its losses again last month, reducing them for the month of July by more than a million dollars.
According to the latest financials, released Tuesday at the monthly meeting of the hospital board, the Greenwood hospital had an operating loss of $439,000 on total revenues of $6 million.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
