When Nell Jeems and her husband, Robert, left their home on Cherry Street before 6:30 a.m. Thursday to go open up their diner in downtown Greenwood, the water was just starting to creep over the curb onto their driveway.
Two hours later, Robert returned to check on the house. The water had gotten so deep, he couldn’t drive to it.
