Government health regulators have spared me a potential moral dilemma.

Companies having trouble finding workers

With three listening sessions in Greenwood Wednesday, the Mississippi Economic Council finished up its 18-stop tour to hear what’s on the mind of the state’s business community.
The common lament: Companies can’t find workers, and too many they are finding are either unequipped to do the job or undependable.

Hospital CEO: ‘The delta variant seems to have peaked’

The CEO of Greenwood Leflore Hospital believes the community has turned the corner on the latest surge of COVID-19.
“The delta variant seems to have peaked,” Jason Studley said Tuesday, following the monthly meeting of the hospital board. “It’s on the downhill slope.”

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
