Sidon mayor glad to continue serving

Johnnie Neal, who on Tuesday was elected to her fourth term as mayor of Sidon, says she is glad to be able to continue to serve the town.
Neal was reelected with 50 votes. Her opponent, Fannie Gordon, received 37.
“There is work,” said Neal, “that I need to finish,” for which “I believe the Lord has prepared me.”

The family of Willie Williams, who so far had received most of the votes for alderman-at-large in Itta Bena’s city elections Tuesday, talked about the importance of election day.
That’s when, said his sister Dorothy Smith of Itta Bena, the people get their day. “This is the day we change, and our voice is heard.”
