Greenwood retailers have been preparing for the holiday season for months, and now it’s just around the corner. Holiday Open House coming up Thursday

Greenwood’s annual Holiday Open House will be held Thursday, and merchants and customers alike are looking forward to it, says Beth Stevens.
Everyone is invited to the event, which is organized yearly by the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce. Stevens is the chamber’s executive director.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
