Leflore County Circuit Clerk Elmus Stockstill dies

Leflore County Circuit Clerk Elmus Stockstill has died.
The first African American to hold the office passed away early Wednesday morning at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Mr. Stockstill, 50, had served as circuit clerk since 2012 and was completing his third term in office.

The Rev. Earl Clark of Schlater says he has benefited in a multitude of ways from having worked for three different Greenwood manufacturers during more than a half-century of employment.
“I went from the mule and wagon to the ‘limousine,’” he said, explaining that his modes of transportation reflect his gains over the years.
