Leflore County Board of Supervisors: Superintendent doesn’t attend meeting

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors expected the school district’s superintendent to speak with the board Monday about the proposed bond issue to build a new countywide high school.

Bond issue campaign leaders get to work

Forums on bond issue set next week

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board’s campaign for support of its proposed $45 million bond issue has begun.
The board on Tuesday authorized holding three public forums next week for anyone who has questions about the bond issue.

Museum prepares for exhibit featuring paintings, ceramics

An exhibit of paintings and ceramics by artist Nina Cork will open at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta Tuesday, and before that, a couple of things need to happen.
First, the cleanup from the museum’s three months of interior renovations must be finished.
And secondly, the “queens” will have to have their hair done.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
