Special deliveries: Letters from the North Pole

Usually, children send letters to Santa Claus, but eight of his helpers have reversed things a bit.

The helpers brought letters from the North Pole to 260 elementary students in Greenwood Public Schools on Thursday, delivering loads of cheer and wonder wherever they went.

Alluvian adding 37 parking spaces

The Alluvian built 22 parking spaces off Church Street at the rear of the hotel after it opened 21/2 years ago.

Now it's building more slots for visitors' vehicles.

Woman taken to hospital after wreck

Greenwood police reported that the Altima was heading north on Main to make a left turn onto Market. A 1996 black Mercury Sable was being driven east on Market by Tanmisha Meeks, 24, of Greenwood when the two cars collided. The Sable had no passengers. The Altima had three passengers, adults and children.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
