If you need passport for foreign trip, get it early

It's likely that, after Dec. 31, any U.S. citizen traveling out of the country by sea or air must have a passport to get back in.

After Dec. 31, 2007, this is expected to apply to any citizen traveling by any method.

Greenwood School Board approves random drug testing at Greenwood High School and Greenwood Middle School

The Greenwood School Board passed a student drug-testing policy Thursday.

There was no dissent. Copies will be available at the superintendent's office Monday.

The policy is similar to a proposal the board has been reviewing since November.

Sunrise services have important meaning for Easter

Easter Sunday will find plenty of folks getting up in the dark to celebrate the resurrection at dawn, or shortly afterward.

Sunrise, according to astronomers, will be at 6:29 a.m., so services that begin before then will be in time for the break of day.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
