Paper ballots required at precinct on Claiborne Avenue

Voters turned back from high-tech to paper this morning on Claiborne Avenue.

The much-heralded computerized touch-screen voting machines weren't working.

Alice Kealhofer and Janie Dale encountered problems with the touch-screen machines at the old fire station about 8 a.m. when they arrived to vote in the Democratic primary.

The church on U.S. 82, about a mile east of of the Mississippi 7 intersection, completed a new 6,740 square-foot Sunday School suite and fellowship hall in February, and now a dedication is planned for 11 a.m. Sunday.
