After losing three straight years by one goal in the State AAAA Division II state championship game to Lamar School, Pillow Academy destroyed Lamar 3-0 before a huge, raucous crowd at home Thursday night.

Lady Mustangs notch two straight victories

After being dominated in a 3-0 defeat to Hartfield to open up the season, the Pillow Academy girls rallied with back-to-back wins to move to 2-1 on the season.

Pillow defeated East Rankin Academy 5-0 on Friday evening. And on Monday afternoon, Pillow opened its home season with a dominating 1-0 victory over Starkville Academy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
