JACKSON — There’s something peculiarly Southern about the way that people facing a life-threatening illness are given certain latitudes regarding their behavior, their vocabulary or their eccentricities.
I can’t say I entirely disagree with those verities. Often, it’s the decent thing to do — if not the right thing.
