Hathorn building sold to CMI

CARROLLTON — The empty former Hathorn Elementary School building in Vaiden has been sold to Central Mississippi Inc. for $136,000.

CMI paid a deposit of $5,000 for the building in May, making the final payment $131,000.

Winona church marks 175 years

WINONA — The First Baptist Church of Winona will mark 175 years of worship and ministry Sunday with a special day of celebration.

The church got its start in 1837 in what was then called Middleton, near the intersection of I-55 and U.S. 82. In 1907, the church moved to its present location on Summit Street in downtown Winona.
