NORTH CARROLLTON — New Carroll County School Board President Laura Davis used her gavel and position Thursday night to explain “there will be a new tone” in meetings this year.

When board member Kenneth DeLoach began to criticize Superintendent of Education Billy Joe Ferguson for remarks he had made to a newspaper, Davis stopped him.

Bid to change student release policy fails again

VAIDEN — Carroll County School Board President Ben Shute’s second attempt to change a policy on student releases failed Thursday after a 2-2 vote.

Shute was serving as board president for the final time after being defeated by Daniel Vest in the November election.
