Days of wintry weather tough for the cold-natured

Yep, it has been cold. I am a cold-natured person anyway, so I thought I would not survive. I couldn’t even watch television news programs that showed way up north and on the East Coast. During the holidays, I went five straight days without leaving my house. The only time I see my feet is in the bathtub.

Anniversary of father-in-law’s death brings back memories

Most memorable gifts are the ones Santa did not bring

Christmas is tomorrow. The cards have been sent, gifts purchased and wrapped, and all of the family’s favorite foods have been prepared. Not a Christmas goes by that I don’t recall two separate Santa gifts that are forever etched in my memory.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
