Everyone ‘bananas’ over Southern food

I received a phone call from Disney Studios last week.

“The Help” will be released on DVD on Dec. 6, 2011.

My contact wanted me to do some television, radio and magazine interviews to promote the sales of the movie.

Everyone has “gone bananas” over the Southern food in the movie.

Our great-niece, Maggie Porter, celebrated her 10th birthday with a family celebration at my mother-in-law’s home here in Cruger.

Tastes from ‘The Help’

Last weekend, the town of Carrollton was inundated with visitors for the town’s annual Pilgrimage.

Many of the beautiful antebellum homes were open for tours.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
