Small-town mayors and leaders in the Delta are working to bring more businesses to their towns.
"Small businesses are the engine of the economy," said Tavarris Cross, coordinator for the Small Business Training Institute.
The institute at Mississippi Valley State University hosted a workshop last week on economic development.
