Ratliff: Should Collins be on ballot?

A Leflore County supervisor is questioning the eligibility of one of his colleagues in the Nov. 8 election because his name didn’t appear on the primary ballot.

But an attorney general’s opinion says unopposed primary candidates are to be put on the general election ballot even if they were left off the primary one.

Attorney Lee Abraham said in court Friday that fellow lawyer Willie Perkins called him a racial slur.

But Abraham didn’t say what the alleged term was, and the judge said he never heard any such comment.

Absentee ballot errors meaningless, clerk says

Leflore County Supervisor Preston Ratliff produced 13 absentee ballots this morning that weren’t properly sealed or signed, but Circuit Clerk Trey Evans said the mistakes were of no consequence.

“It’s of no fault to the voter, just some clerical errors,” Ev-ans said from the witness stand at the Leflore County courthouse.
