Brown wins again

Anjuan Brown was declared the winner today in the Leflore County supervisior District 3 special election.

Brown received 472 votes, or 53.6 percent, to incumbent Preston Ratliff’s 393 votes, or 44.7 percent, and Charles McCain’s 14 votes or 1.6 percent.

Now the public has a chance to do something about it.

Leflore County will elect someone to represent its poor on the CMI board during a hearing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Board of Supervisors room at the courthouse.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
