Officials: Tchula fire revenge for shooting

A weekend shooting in Tchula led to a house being doused with gasoline and burned in retaliation, officials say.

Tchula police are looking for three suspects in the shooting, and the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department has charged two relatives of the shooting victim with arson.

No penalties for lawyer in Pizza Hut case

Grenada attorney Carlos Moore won’t have to pay penalties after all in the Greenwood Pizza Hut case.

U.S. Magistrate David Sanders had fined Moore $5,000 in 2010 for needlessly increasing the cost of litigation because Moore filed essentially the same lawsuit five different times in Leflore County Circuit Court.

City sued in fatal wreck

The city of Greenwood is facing a lawsuit from the estate of a woman killed when a police car slammed into her truck.

Then-patrolman Elizabeth Lougee hit Sarah Robinson, 60, of Coila at the intersection of Humphrey Highway and U.S. 82 on April 13, 2010.
