City ranked as top spot for getaway

The readers of the Mississippi Business Journal are ranking Greenwood as their favorite weekend getaway in the state.

A non-scientific poll on the magazine’s website has Greenwood leading 12 other communities.

As of this morning, Greenwood had 29 percent of the vote compared to 17 percent for second-place Natchez.

Man, 20, faces 3 charges of statutory rape

A 20-year-old is facing three statutory rape charges for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl who left home after a dispute with family members.

Trennis Robinson, 20, 109 Western Circle, was being held at the Leflore County Jail this morning and awaiting bond to be set.
