Rebels, Lady Rebels both place fifth at meet in Clarksdale

The Carroll Academy varsity girls and boys track teams came in fifth place overall in Division II of the Lee Academy Invitational Wednesday in Clarksdale.
The Lady Rebels had 18.5 points in the girls division. Desoto School was first with 93 points, and Tunica Academy second with 58.5 points.

Greenwood High School’s softball team dropped a 16-0 decision to Region 3-4A foe Kosciusko High School Tuesday at Whittington Park.
The Lady Whippets scored 11 runs in the first, four in the second and one in the third. They only outhit GHS 5-0 but were aided by 12 walks issued by Lady Bulldog pitching.

Prep Roundup: PA netters rout Magnolia Heights, 8-1

The Pillow Academy tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over visiting Magnolia Heights in District 1-5A action Tuesday at Twin Rivers.
Cooper Howell and Langdon Dyksterhouse earned wins in No. 1 and No. 2 boys singles. Howell defeated Joey Azar 6-0, 6-0, and Dyksterhouse beat Zane Bouchillon 6-0, 6-0.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
