-Pillow Academy: The Mustangs dropped a 7-0 District 1-4A contest to visiting Bayou Academy at Robertson Field.

Prep Volleyball: Pillow falters in 3-2 setback to Knights

Pillow Academy’s girls volleyball team raced out to a 2-0 set lead over visiting West Memphis Christian School Thursday at Scott Gymnasium, but the Lady Black Knights rallied for a 3-2 victory.
Pillow won the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22. However, West Memphis took the next three sets 25-20, 25-13 and 15-12.

Fastpitch Softball: Senior Nix leads Pillow by St. Joe

Senior Kylee Nix tossed a no-hitter in leading the Pillow Academy fastpitch softball team to a 9-0 win over visiting Madison St. Joe in the District 1-4A opener Thursday night at Robertson Field.
Nix (4-3) went five innings, walking three and striking out six. At the plate, she had a single and scored a run.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
