Delta Streets ousted from Class 1A playoffs

The state title playoff run for Delta Streets Academy came to an end as the Lions dropped a 48-28 decision to Benton Academy in the first round of the Class 1A, Division I playoffs Friday night in Benton.
Delta Streets ends its season with a 3-8 overall record.

Thursday night in Webb, the Tigers overcame a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 34-26 victory over West Tallahatchie High School.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
