Prep Basketball: Pillow girls wrap up tournament with win

The Lady Mustangs of Pillow Academy upped their record to 17-1 with a 56-31 win over Kirk Academy Wednesday at the Kirk Tournament in Grenada.
The Lady Mustangs raced out to a 22-1 lead after the first period and led 30-10 at the half. A 17-8 run in the third quarter gave Pillow a 47-18 advantage headed to the final period.

Prep Basketball: GHS knocks off Greenville

The Bulldogs (13-2) had three players score in double figures en route to a 60-36 victory over Greenville High School at Greenwood’s gym.

GHS, PA athletes make teams

Greenwood High School’s football team placed three players on the Region 3-4A Super 22 team and eight players on the Region 3-4A first and second teams.
Selected to the Super 22 team are junior wide receiver Ramone Tate, junior defensive back Omarion Hemphill and sophomore punter Kaleb Cotton.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
