The Pillow Academy tennis team pulled off an 8-1 win over visiting Lamar School Thursday at Twin Rivers.
Murry Catherine Alderman and Hayes Brown won their matches in girls and boys singles, respectively. Alderman won her match 6-2, 4-6 (10-8 in tiebreaker). Brown won his match 6-2, 6-3.

Prep Track: Pillow’s girls take home 2nd place, boys finish 4th

The Pillow Academy and Carroll Academy girls and boys varsity and junior high track teams participated in the Bayou Academy Invitational Wednesday in Cleveland.
The Pillow varsity and junior high girls each placed second. The varsity boys were fourth, and the junior high boys came in third.

Local news matters to Greenwood. It keeps the people informed and connected. It asks the questions they want answered. It elevates what’s good, and it exposes what’s not.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
