Reclassification sees Bulldogs in new region, LC drops to 1A

The Mississippi High School Activities Association released its reclassification for the 2025-2027 school years Tuesday.
The MHSSA oversees the seven classifications for all its sports in the state. In the Greenwood area, four schools — Greenwood, Amanda Elzy, Leflore County and J.Z. George — are part of the MHSAA.

Prep Roundup: GHS, Elzy and JZG fall in basketball sweeps

Visiting Ruleville High School picked up two wins at Greenwood High School Tuesday night.
In the girls game, Ruleville held off the pesky Lady Bulldogs to claim a 49-45 win, dropping GHS to 2-4 overall. Ruleville led 11-8 after one, but Greenwood took a 23-19 lead at the half. The Lady Tigers led 33-31 after the third period.

The Carroll Academy girls basketball team picked up its sixth win of the season with a 30-10 triumph over Lee Academy Tuesday night in Clarksdale.
Carroll (6-3) held leads of 8-3 after one, 18-3 at the half and 25-5 after the third period.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
