Country club kitchen, clubhouse closed 2 weeks

The kitchen and clubhouse at Greenwood Country Club will be closed for two weeks.

The club had been offering curbside pickup for food, but GCC members received an email on Tuesday notifying them that a kitchen worker had been living in direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Kirk hires PA assistant as its coach

Pillow Academy is losing an assistant coach while at the same time picking up a familiar face.

Mike Beagle, the school’s offensive line coach and athletic director for boys sports, has been hired to be the new head coach at Kirk Academy in Grenada. That school is under the direction of former Pillow headmaster Jay Watts.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
