‘Wabble’ wants to fix unfixable economy

MERIDIAN — President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are promoting plans to fix America’s economy. So rife is the “fix the economy” story line out of Washington, Looney Tunes should produce it.

Kwazy wabble, fixes are for things. An economy is not a thing to be fixed like a leaky faucet or tax loophole.

Poppy was the late Sonny Montgomery’s racquetball buddy and best friend in Washington, the 41st president of the United States, George H. W. Bush.

Ignorant Americans can be manipulated

MERIDIAN — Unbalance in America feeds off ignorance.

Don’t focus on high school drop-outs or illiterate adults. Think mainstream America.

Last March, Newsweek gave 1,000 Americans the U.S. Citizenship Test. When 38 percent failed, the magazine proclaimed, “The country’s future is imperiled by our ignorance.”

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
