Burrus: Thankfully, high school hoops got to finish up

It’s been 33 days since the Greenwood High School boys hoisted the hardware and 37 since the Pillow Academy girls did the same.

Thankfully, COVID-19 wasn’t coming on strong back in late February and early March. It would have been a darn shame for two magical local hoop seasons to be yanked out from under these kids and coaches.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
