Vicksburg board votes to ban firearms on city property

VICKSBURG (AP) — Vicksburg is banning firearms on city property except for law enforcement officers.

The Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen adopted the ban this week. The Vicksburg Post reports that the board also ordered signs to be put up on city buildings and at parks. The ban is to take effect Monday.

Inmate’s capital murder conviction stands

JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi death row inmate Charles Ray Crawford has again been denied a new trial for the slaying of a junior college student.

A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld a 2012 decision in Mississippi’s Northern District federal court.
