PASCAGOULA (AP) — Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd has denied a newspaper’s request for flight records and fuel costs for the sheriff’s department helicopters.
The Sun Herald reports that Byrd contends they are not public records because drug-forfeiture money, not taxpayer money, is involved.
