Leflore, Carroll populations decline

Leflore County's population fell by 291 people last year and Carroll County's by 114, according to the most recent U.S. Census estimates.

Those numbers, which are released yearly, do not reflect an actual census count. Instead, they are estimates based on demographic percentages and address changes on Internal Revenue Service rolls.

'Lucky Cow' hits papers

Egg hunt winners

Greenwood children gathered 700 eggs in about 10 minutes Saturday during an annual City Park Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Greenwood High School Student Government Association and National Honor Society chapter. About 50 kids and parents participated in the event.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
