JACKSON - Legislation pending in the Mississippi Senate would require inmates to begin making license plates after July 1, 2003.
Senate Corrections Committee Chairman Rob Smith, D-Richland, said Wednesday the delay will allow an existing contract to expire and give Mississippi Prison Industries time to gear up for the program.
