Police Officer Lavern Jones will assume the duties of Itta Bena police chief while the city begins the search for a permanent replacement, said Mayor Thelma Collins today.
The city again needs a chief following the resignation of Coy Lee Keys, who was approved Aug. 6 as a field deputy for the Leflore County Sheriff's Department.
