Teaching was Lucille Scarborough Johnson's lifelong passion.
"She told me at one point she taught about 9,000 kids. Even in 2004, she was still tutoring," said Mrs. Johnson's nephew, Bill Gearhiser.
Mrs. Johnson, 104, a longtime resident of Greenwood, died Monday at Serenity Gates Nursing Home in Perry, Ga.
