JACKSON - Tom Meredith, chancellor of the Georgia higher education system, has been named higher education commissioner in Mississippi.
The College Board hired Meredith today to replace outgoing Commissioner Richard Crofts, who came out of retirement to serve on an interim basis last year when David Potter stepped down from the post.
