JACKSON - A new report ranks Mississippi 49th in the nation when it comes to spending money on students, but the state still gets passing grades in classroom accountability and efforts to improve teacher quality.
In its "Quality Counts 2005" report released Wednesday, Education Week newspaper said Mississippi spends $6,143 per pupil.
