Claire Smith, MR safety officer and supervisor at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, and Brittany Ricks, MRI technician, demonstrate the wider capacity of the hospital’s new magnetic resonance scanner to create a better experience for patients who can otherwise feel anxious and claustrophobic while inside the machine. The shorter opening means less of a patient’s body is inside the machine at any time. The increased size of the “bore” also allows the hospital to scan patients up to 550 pounds.
