Greenwood police have charged a man they believe is responsible for a shooting last week that left a victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said Royce Grant, 48, 606 W. Henry St., has been charged with aggravated assault.
Craft said Grant is the suspect police began searching for following a shooting on Dec. 7 near Cotton Street and West Henry Street.
Grant is accused of shooting another man following an altercation. The victim suffered injuries to his leg and abdomen and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He has survived his injuries.
Grant was arrested this past weekend on a misdemeanor shoplifting charge and held for investigation. He received the aggravated assault charge on Tuesday.
Grant remained in the Leflore County Jail on Tuesday. Bond was set at $50,000.
